Diagnostics

We provide quick and accurate diagnoses to your pet’s problems.

It is difficult to see your pet in pain or suffering and not know what’s wrong.

Our team provides state of the art in house diagnostics to help us learn what’s wrong and provide an accurate diagnosis. A quicker diagnosis leads to quicker treatment! We do diagnostic testing both in-house and with an outside lab to provide results quickly and accurately.

Radiographs

A radiograph (X-ray) is a photograph that looks inside the body and reveals information that may not be discernible from the outside. Radiography can be used to evaluate your pet’s internal organs like the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs, as well as bones. When it comes to diagnosing your pet accurately, radiology can be a precious tool in our diagnostic arsenal.

Digital X-rays are routinely used to diagnose and examine broken bones, obstructions, arthritis, masses, and tumors. We use digital X-rays also to confirm pregnancies or detect ingested objects.

Cytology

If your pet has a skin or ear infection or has masses, our doctors will offer to perform cytology to evaluate better what is occurring. Cytology consists of collecting samples of cells in the area of interest and examining them under the microscope to identify bacteria, fungus, mites or evaluate the type of cells a tissue or mass comprises.

Your pet’s doctor may recommend a secondary evaluation by a board-certified pathologist to confirm the cytology results.

Bloodwork

Very often, vets will advise on getting blood tests carried out on your pets. Blood tests are important to monitor your pet’s health and identify any potential health risks that your pet is facing. However, because there is an extra expense involved in getting this bloodwork done, some pet owners neglect to have these tests carried out regularly.

Diabetic Testing & Consultations

Diabetes is a common disease that results from a malfunction of your pet’s endocrine system. It can occur in younger pets due to a birth defect or other injury to the animal’s pancreas, rendering it unable to produce insulin (this is known as type 1 diabetes). It can develop in an older pet when their body becomes unable to effectively utilize the insulin produced (known as type 2 diabetes). In both of these cases, visible symptoms are often not apparent until the disease is advanced.

Modern veterinary medicine now has the tools to detect diabetes in dogs and cats early and has the ability to treat both types of diabetes and allow your pet to lead a long and normal life.

Diabetes is not the only condition that results from a problem with your pet’s endocrine system. However, like diabetes, other serious conditions can be successfully treated if diagnosed early. Regular wellness care visits for your pet can enable our veterinarians to diagnose and treat diseases such as diabetes early, allowing your pet to lead a long and happy life with you.
